Whoo hoo! We have experienced a jump in reading levels. This year 20% more of our students are reading at grade level than where we were at this time last year! This is thanks to our consistent focus on literacy at school and our families/student's commitment to reading and writing at home.
Daily at home reading makes a world of difference. Kids need to read and talk about what they are reading at home. We are getting closer to our school reading goal, but we know it will take all hands on deck to reach this! Reading is learned through repetition and modeling.
Reading at Grade Level by Grade 3 is a predictor of graduation rates and school engagement.
If you or someone you know can volunteer to read with kids, please have them contact the school to set this up.
As added motivation, teachers have committed to rocking the best air band the student body has ever seen if we meet our school reading goals. Let’s get reading and rocking!
